Services / Silk screen printing It would be wrong to say that this method has the maximum number of advantages, it would be more correct to say: the least number of drawbacks. The availability of many types of paint for stenciling enables the application of pictures of any complexity and with various special effects. In the case of stenciling there is a real possibility to obtain strict pantone colours in the picture. It is possible to print with both water and plastisol paints. There is a method to avoid the interference of fabric colour on the colour of the applied picture by means of a so-called substrate. Thanks to these factors this method is used in applying logotypes when printing on T-shirts and similar items. Pictures applied by means of silk screen printing, provided it is performed by a high category printer, can survive the carrier fabric. Often the transfers used in applying pictures by the thermal transfer method are done by means of silk screen printing. Where plastisol paint is used, the picture applied by this method is physically a very thin film tightly fixed on the fabric surface. This reduces the access of oxygen to some surfaces of the body. However, due to the fact that plastisol is a polymer and after the polymerization is complete it does not emit any substances it is absolutely harmless to the human organism. Nonetheless, consideration this it is recommended to apply large pictures with water-based paints because they do not hinder the permeation of air through the fabric. The second drawback is a rather complex multistage production process dependent on the workmanship of the personnel involved in this technical process. A minor error made during colour separation or the wrong definition of the number of the screen used for manufacture of a print stencil will prevent the obtaining of high-fidelity colour in the picture; if the wrong mode (time and temperature) of paint polymerization is selected the obtained picture might crack to the same extent as in thermal transfer. Because of this we advise you to place confidence in professional personnel only. If you choose to apply your company logo by direct silk screen printing you may not always enjoy the results. If you select the wrong company for the production of this kind of printing it is quite possible that eventually you will deeply regret taking that wrong step. Despite the fact that a full-colour picture in polygraphy is usually divided into 4 components (CMYK), practice shows that the more variety of colours and hues used in the printing of raster (even transition of colour) pictures, the more vivid (bright, realistic and 3D) a picture is obtained on the final product. When you are told that 4 main colours are sufficient for printing a full-colour picture on textiles, ask yourself why the leading world manufacturers produce silk screen printing equipment that uses 12 and more colours…
